Landed job at Cisco after stellar college golf career
By Team CSUSACongratulations to Norwegian golfer Thea Wakeford-Wesmann who recently graduated with an Economics and Finance degree from University of Arkansas at Little Rock! Thea’s 3.98 GPA landed her on UALR’s Chancellor’s list as well as the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List. 4.0 would’ve been straight A’s so she has done tremendously well in school.
It has been a pleasure to follow Thea’s golf career in Arkansas. It doesn’t feel that long ago we first met Thea at a national tournament in Norway, sat down with her and explained what is possible for her in the US and ultimately started helping her with the process of becoming a student-athlete and finding her a good golf scholarship. We are thrilled to see her come out on the other side with a great degree and already landed a job at a fantastic company like Cisco.
We caught up with Thea for a couple of questions about her college golf career, and some recommendations for others looking to become a student-athlete with a golf scholarship.
What are your plans after graduation?
I am starting the graduate program at Cisco in Oslo, Norway.
What is the best thing about being a student-athlete?
Being a part of a team and able to travel around the country and meet new people.
What is your best memory (or memories) from your time as a student-athlete?
My best memory was the conference championship sophomore year in Sandestin, Florida.
What is the best advice you can give to someone who considers becoming a student-athlete in the US?
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! With all the ups and downs considered, I would have picked becoming a student-athlete again if I got the chance. I’m left with amazing friendships and great memories which I am so grateful for.
