– Sophie brings a wealth of experience to our Ops team. She got a top-end master’s from Florida State, as well as her undergrad exchange from the University of New Haven in combination with completing several athletic department internships. We loved that she has worked with a big range of sports, is an excellent administrator, and will diligently help our students in their college recruiting process. We expect her to come in and help us further improve our system with her ideas and further enable her colleagues in their roles, said Kim Moe Krohn, COO at College Scholarships USA.
“The Sophie Bucknall File”
Sophie completed her master’s degree in Sport Management at Florida State University, graduating with a 3.8 GPA. While there she was a Graduate Assistant for the department of sport management, teaching classes to undergraduate students, and completed a full-time athletic director internship at a local high school.
Prior to Florida State University, Sophie completed a BA (Hons) in International Business Management at the University of Lincoln, UK. While studying here, she undertook a study abroad semester at the University of New Haven, Connecticut, achieving dean’s list honors. Also during the undergraduate period, Sophie moved to Columbia, Missouri for a year to complete a work placement in high school championships and events for the state governing body.
Post education, Sophie spent a year in the US scholarship industry, working primarily with released UK academy soccer players before moving to work with swimming, diving, and water polo coaches for the national governing body.
– I always knew I wanted to live in America and spending time there during university was the best time to achieve this. I based my UK university applications on where could offer me study and work abroad options. Once learning of high school and college sports in a class at the University of New Haven, I knew this was the industry I wanted to work in. I loved my time in the US, and the life-changing experiences it provided. I’m looking forward to helping others get the same opportunities, said Bucknall.
